Our Capital Campaign
Our Capital Campaign
It must have been an astonishing sight. Thousands of Jews – fishermen peddlers, mothers with their babies gathered on a small hill in Galilee, under a relentless Judean sun, waiting to hear the words of an itinerant preacher, who some said might be the messiah.
The crowd had come to that hill that day totally unprepared – no shelter, little food. For the apostles, it was a situation that was likely to get out of control. For Christ, it was an opportunity to whisper a truth to us that, if we listen, we can hear two millennia later.
He asked those frightened apostles to gather the few loaves and fishes the people had brought. Then, He took that meager offering, blessed it, and had the apostles re-distribute it to the crowd. Nobody went hungry that day.
Before He fed the people’s spiritual hunger, he ministered to their physical needs. He asks us to follow Him. To serve as He serves. To love as He loves. And allow His example to transform us.
This Love Rising Up To Serve Campaign is about strengthening the ability of Christ the King to feed the spiritual and the physical hunger of this congregation, of the surrounding community, and of the world beyond.
It’s about trusting Him to take what we offer, bless it, and, in turn, multiply it to the glory of His Father.
It’s about our love for God rising up to serve His people.
It’s about five loaves and two fishes. And expecting nothing less than a miracle.
Our past as prelude.
A few short years ago, Christ The King accepted another call from Christ to greater serve Him and His people.
After deep prayer and deliberation, the choice was made to build a new spiritual home. It was a bold step. It meant deep financial sacrifice from the entire congregation, and an even deeper faith that, with God’s help and guidance, we would accomplish what we set out to do.
Step inside the doors of the church now and you will see and feel the result of the vision, deep commitment and ongoing love of this congregation.
It is a magnificent, light-filled, spiritually-moving place to hear the

LOVE
RISING
UP TO
SERVE
Word of God, offer our praise and renew our Christian faith. It expresses the warmth and love of God and this congregation in a profound and tangible way.
It is the center of our religious life, and has played no small part in re-energizing Christ The King to increase the scope and zeal of its ministry, from our wonderful and varied Youth and Music programs to Caritas.
Step outside the narthex and a different picture emerges. As inspirational as the new building is, the parts of the church that house our educational wing, and many of our other most important ministries, is in structural decay.
It’s time to get our house – the Lord’s House – in order.
Building on success.
Every meeting, every survey, every focus group has revealed what this congregation wants from their spiritual journey at Christ The King. Almost unanimously, old members and new have expressed our collective need to serve better and serve more. Music, education, youth, Caritas, all the various ministries that bring us closer to Christ, we want to do more and better.
It is time to act. Love Rising up to Serve – the 2008 CTK Campaign – is the tangible expression of those wants and needs. But it’s also much more. It is an expression of our willingness to act boldly on our faith, our love and our deep desire to serve.
It’s also the means by which we can finish what we started and build a church ready and willing to meet the needs of the future.
